On February 10-12, 2021, the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ project titled on “Developing Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Programmes and Strengthening Research Networks in Geoinformation Technologies in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan” (GeoTAK) was held.

Welcoming speeches were made by Mr. Nurlan Omurov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic,
Mr. Artur Martirosyan – Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Suren Tovmasyan – Head of the Cadastre Committee of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Akymbek Abdykalykov – Rector of KSUCTA, Ms. Gulnara Chokusheva – National coordinator of the Erasmus + program in Kyrgyzstan and Ms. Lana Karlova – National Coordinator of the Erasmus + Program in Armenia

Further, according to the agenda, Prof. Luis Angel Ruiz Fernández, Project Coordinator, presented the GeoTAK project.

The main objectives of the project are to develop postgraduate higher education programs in geographic information technology (GIT) and to strengthen research and innovation linkages between higher education, industry and government in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.

The project is coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain). The project is being implemented with participation of the Kyrgyz State University of Construction, Transport and Architecture named after N. Isanov, Kyrgyz State University of Geology, Mining and Development of Natural Resources named after Academician U. Asanaliev, Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, Osh Technological University, State Cartographic and Geodetic Service under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The event was attended by project teams from four European, three Armenian and three Kyrgyz universities, as well as representatives of more than 10 enterprises and institutions from different countries participating and interested in the project.
