On November 19-20, 2020, at the initiative of the Education, Culture and Audiovisual Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission, a regional cluster meeting on the impact of Erasmus + projects in the field of capacity development for higher education in Central Asia was held online.

The organizers of this event: EACEA, Directorate General for Education, Youth, Sports and Culture (DG EAC) and National Erasmus + Offices in 5 Central Asian countries: Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

The regional cluster meeting consisted of plenary sessions and five interactive workshops.

The purpose of the event is to determine the impact and sustainability of projects in the field of developing the potential of higher education, discuss issues related to quality assurance, reforming training programs, ensuring accessibility, internationalization of universities, strengthening interaction between the business community and universities, strengthening regional cooperation and promoting reform in the field of higher education in the framework of the Bologna process.

The objective of this Regional Cluster Meeting was to stimulate analysis and discussion of the current Erasmus + program along with the discussion of the future EU education program.

In addition, this event provided an opportunity to identify difficulties and challenges in the implementation of international projects in Central Asia.

Also during the cluster meeting, coordinators and participants of ongoing projects in the field of increasing the potential of higher education discussed the challenges in the implementation and management of projects in the context of the COVID 19 pandemic.
