The Regional Infoday of the Erasmus+ Programme and the Technical Assistance Mission (TAM) Conference on “Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education” brought together higher education leaders, Higher Education Reform Experts (HERE), policymakers and researchers from Central Asia and the European Union in Astana, Kazakhstan, on 21–22 May 2026.
Kyrgyzstan was actively represented at the regional event by the National Coordinator of the Erasmus+ Programme in the Kyrgyz Republic, members of the HERE Kyrgyzstan team, Rector of Osh State University (OshSU), Rector of Ala-Too International University, and representatives of the International University of Kyrgyzstan.
Special attention during the conference was given to the contributions of the HERE Kyrgyzstan experts, whose presentations highlighted the country’s growing engagement in higher education reforms and digital transformation. During the opening session, member of HERE Kyrgyzstan, addressed participants alongside representatives of Erasmus+ offices from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
One of the key regional discussions focused on strengthening cooperation among Central Asian higher education institutions. President of Salymbekov University and member of HERE Kyrgyzstan, shared perspectives on expanding regional partnerships and fostering collaboration through Erasmus+ initiatives.
As part of the seminar on Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education, member of the HERE Kyrgyzstan team, delivered a presentation on “The impact of AI on the system of higher education of Kyrgyzstan with a special focus on teaching strategy and assessment system.” The presentation highlighted the opportunities and challenges related to the integration of artificial intelligence into teaching and learning processes in Kyrgyz universities.
The presentation was based on a survey conducted across five universities in the Kyrgyz Republic: Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Adam University, Salymbekov University, Kyrgyz State Technical University, and Ala-Too International University. The findings demonstrated the growing interest of higher education institutions in adopting AI-driven approaches for improving educational quality, assessment methods and academic management.
HERE Kyrgyzstan experts also participated in regional panel discussions with European and Central Asian colleagues, exchanging best practices on university governance, digitalization and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in higher education. Their active participation emphasized Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to advancing innovation, international cooperation and modernization within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme.
The conference also served as an important networking platform for universities and stakeholders across the region, promoting new partnerships and future Erasmus+ cooperation projects in Central Asia.
