On May 25, 2026, Osh State University hosted the “Green and Digital University Caravan” within the framework of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project “Green and Digital University for Sustainable Development of Kyrgyzstan” (GREENKG).
The event brought together representatives of Kyrgyz higher education institutions participating in the GREENKG project, as well as stakeholders from government bodies, environmental organizations, and partner institutions. International partners from Germany and Lithuania joined the initiative through the project consortium.
The National Erasmus+ Office in the Kyrgyz Republic participated in the event online. During the opening session, the National Coordinator of the Erasmus+ Programme in Kyrgyzstan highlighted the important role of higher education institutions in advancing sustainable development and promoting the digital transformation of education. In her welcoming remarks, she emphasized that universities play a key role in preparing future generations to address environmental and societal challenges, while also fostering innovation through the integration of digital technologies into teaching, learning, and institutional management.
The opening session also highlighted the importance of integrating green and digital approaches into higher education and underscored the value of cooperation among universities, public authorities, and international partners in supporting sustainable development and innovation.
As part of the programme, participants were introduced to the activities and achievements of Osh State University’s Center for Digital Innovations and Center for Eco-Innovations. Academic presentations addressed topics such as environmental sustainability, ecosystem development, digital innovation, and the use of educational technologies. Particular attention was given to the contribution of university-based initiatives to addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.
The event also showcased student engagement in sustainability issues through presentations on the green economy and carbon footprint reduction. These contributions reflected the growing involvement of students in environmental awareness and green transformation initiatives.
Following the plenary sessions, participants visited several key facilities of Osh State University, including the Center for Digital Innovations, the university Data Center, the Next Generation Hub, and the Center for Eco-Innovations. The visits provided an opportunity to explore the infrastructure and practical initiatives developed within the framework of the university’s green and digital transformation efforts.
The Green and Digital University Caravan serves as a platform for sharing good practices, strengthening cooperation among partner institutions, and promoting the objectives of the GREENKG project.
