On April 15, 2026, an open lecture by the Ambassador of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic was held for students at Ala-Too International University. The event was organized by the National Erasmus+ Office in the Kyrgyz Republic in cooperation with Ala-Too International University and the Delegation of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic.

The lecture focused on the European Union’s policy in Central Asia and the key priorities of engagement with the region. During his presentation, Ambassador highlighted major areas of cooperation, including sustainable development, strengthening partnerships, and enhancing regional cooperation.

“Central Asia is an important partner for the European Union. We are committed to fostering sustainable and mutually beneficial cooperation, with a strong emphasis on education, youth support, and expanding opportunities for international exchange,” noted Ambassador.

Special attention was given to the role of education, science, and youth policy as key drivers of long-term development and closer ties between the countries of the region and the European Union.The lecture was followed by an open discussion with students, where current issues of international cooperation, educational opportunities, and prospects for collaboration between Central Asia and the European Union were actively discussed.

As part of his visit, Ambassador also met with the leadership of Ala-Too International University and representatives of the National Erasmus+ Office in the Kyrgyz Republic. The meeting placed particular emphasis on expanding cooperation in education and research.

The Erasmus+ Programme remains one of the European Union’s key instruments for supporting education, academic mobility, and international cooperation, offering students and academic staff opportunities for study, traineeships, and participation in joint projects with European universities.
