On April 22, 2026, an Erasmus+ Information Day was successfully held at the International University of Kyrgyzstan (IUK), bringing together academic and administrative staff interested in international cooperation and capacity building opportunities.
The event was organized by the National Erasmus+ Office in the Kyrgyz Republic, aiming to raise awareness about the Erasmus+ Programme and to strengthen the involvement of local higher education institutions in international projects.
A total of 19 participants attended the Information Day, including 2 representatives of the National Erasmus+ Office and members of the administrative and academic staff of the International University of Kyrgyzstan. Participants were introduced to the wide range of opportunities offered by the programme. Special attention was given to explaining eligibility criteria, application procedures, and the strategic priorities of the programme in the current cycle.
A significant part of the Information Day was dedicated to the Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) component, which remains one of the most relevant and impactful actions for universities in Kyrgyzstan.
The presentation highlighted how CBHE projects contribute to:
- modernization of higher education systems,
- development of innovative curricula,
- strengthening institutional capacities,
- and fostering collaboration between universities in Programme and Partner Countries.
Participants were provided with practical guidance on how to develop competitive project proposals, including insights into project design, partnership building, and alignment with Erasmus+ priorities such as green transformation, and digitalization.
The Information Day was highly interactive and encouraged active participation from university staff. Attendees engaged in open discussions, proposing initial ideas for future project applications and exploring potential thematic areas aligned with institutional needs.
Many participants shared concepts related to:
- sustainable development and green campus initiatives,
- digital transformation in education,
- improving the quality of teaching and learning,
- and strengthening links between academia and the labor market.
In addition, participants raised practical questions regarding proposal preparation, budgeting, consortium requirements, and project implementation. The session provided a valuable opportunity to clarify these aspects directly with experts from the National Erasmus+ Office.
The event demonstrated a strong interest from the International University of Kyrgyzstan in expanding its participation in Erasmus+ projects. It also reflected a growing commitment among university staff to engage in international cooperation and contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable higher education practices.
The National Erasmus+ Office in the Kyrgyz Republic continues to support higher education institutions across the country in accessing Erasmus+ opportunities and developing impactful international projects.
