On 27 April 2026, the National Erasmus+ Office in the Kyrgyz Republic hosted a consultation meeting with a representative of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) project GREEN and Digital Universities for Sustainable Development of KyrGyzstan (GreenKG) from Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I.K. Akhunbaev.

The meeting was organized as part of the National Erasmus+ Office’s continuous advisory support provided to Erasmus+ project beneficiaries in Kyrgyzstan, aimed at ensuring effective project implementation, sound financial management, and compliance with Erasmus+ programme requirements.

During the consultation, particular attention was paid to a wide range of financial and administrative issues related to the implementation of the GreenKG project. The discussion focused on budget planning, reporting procedures, eligibility of expenditures, supporting documentation, internal financial coordination, and practical aspects of preparing project-related financial records in accordance with Erasmus+ CBHE guidelines.

The representative of the National Erasmus+ Office provided detailed explanations and practical recommendations regarding the financial management framework of Erasmus+ projects, helping the project partner institution to better navigate existing reporting obligations and implementation procedures. Special emphasis was placed on improving the understanding of EU financial accountability standards, transparent use of grant funds, and timely preparation of documentation required for both internal and external monitoring.

In addition to financial matters, the meeting also addressed several organizational and implementation-related aspects of the project, including coordination of upcoming activities, dissemination obligations, sustainability planning, and institutional integration of project results.

The GreenKG project is one of the national Erasmus+ CBHE projects selected under the 2023 call and is implemented from November 2023 to October 2026. The project aims to support the development of a national model of green and digital universities in Kyrgyzstan, strengthen universities’ institutional capacities for sustainable and environmentally responsible management, and promote digital transformation in higher education.

The project consortium is coordinated by the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and brings together ten Kyrgyz higher education institutions, including Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I.K. Akhunbaev, as well as European partner universities from Germany and Lithuania. The initiative is focused on introducing green governance models, establishing Green and Digital Offices, developing new educational modules on sustainability, and fostering environmentally conscious university policies across the country.

As an active consortium member, Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I.K. Akhunbaev has been consistently involved in GreenKG activities, including quality assurance trainings, sustainability reporting workshops, dissemination events, and the launch of its Green and Digital Technologies Office, which serves as an institutional hub for promoting sustainable development and digital innovation within the academy.
