On 16 September 2025, a coordination meeting of universities on higher education and science was held in Bishkek. The event was organized by the National Erasmus+ Office in Kyrgyzstan together with the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The aim of the meeting was to coordinate actions and align priorities among academic institutions and the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic.in order to ensure the effective implementation of state policy in higher education and science. Participants also discussed the outcomes of strategic studies and initiatives shaping the country’s scientific and educational development until 2030.
The Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation delivered the opening remarks. This was followed by a presentation of the Strategy for the Development of Higher Education of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2025–2030, which outlined reforms in science, higher education, digitalization, innovation, and intellectual property. The Deputy Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation moderated the session and facilitated the discussion.
The program continued with a presentation of the results of a national research study on the development of science in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2025–2030.
In the second part of the meeting, the Rector of Kyrgyz State Technical University introduced a draft KPI system for research institutes aimed at increasing efficiency and transparency.
A session on best practices brought together rectors and academics from leading universities, who shared successful experiences in the commercialization of educational and research activities, financial autonomy, academic and managerial freedoms, digital transformation, and the transformation of teacher education.
The meeting concluded with discussions and recommendations on the implementation of state scientific and educational policy for the medium term. The Deputy Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation summarized the outcomes and highlighted the importance of joint efforts between the Ministry, universities, and research institutions.
