Today, 28 September 2024, the American University in Central Asia hosted a meeting of the Central Asia+ Rectors Club on the theme ‘The Path to Change: Leadership Challenges in Contemporary Academia’. The meeting brought together representatives of leading universities and educational organisations from Central Asia to discuss the challenges of reforming higher education in the region.

The event began with welcoming remarks by AUCA President Tillota O’Connor and representatives of the Ministries of Education of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The key topics of the presentations were ‘Central Asian Higher Education Space’ presented by Anne Catherine Isaacs and ‘Academic Excellence Initiatives’ by Professor Maria Yudkevich.

In the panel sessions, participants discussed strengthening regional co-operation through the integration of higher education systems of Central Asian countries.
