On 16 September 2024, Osh State University, in cooperation with the National Erasmus+ Office in the Kyrgyz Republic, hosted a seminar titled “Micro-Credentials and the Transformation of Higher Education: National Practices and Strategic Outlook.” The event brought together 40 representatives from higher education institutions across Kyrgyzstan to discuss the growing role of micro-credentials in academic innovation.
The seminar focused on how flexible, skill-based certifications can support the modernization of higher education systems and respond to the evolving needs of the labor market. Participants explored international trends, national case studies, and institutional practices related to the implementation of micro-qualification programs.
The keynote speaker, Svetlana Rustamovna Sirmbard, Rector of Adam University and member of the National Team of Higher Education Reform Experts (HEREs), shared insights on how micro-credentials can enhance the accessibility and adaptability of learning pathways in Kyrgyzstan.
The event concluded with a working group session where participants drafted initial concepts for pilot micro-credential initiatives, followed by a certificate ceremony. The seminar was held with the support of the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme.
