The HERE Seminar on Universities and social engagement took place at the University of Nicosia (Nicosia, Cyprus) on 13-14 June, 2017.
The HERE seminar showcased EU and HERE countries and HEI, analyzing the different components of ‘social engagement’ and third mission. This includes issues related to access, catering to minority and marginalised learners, but also how to weave social engagement and responsibility into the curriculum. A special session examined in particular how universities are responding to migrant and refugee learner needs, given that this is extremely topical in the Mediterranean at present.
Kyrgyzstan was represented by Ms Svetlana Sirmbard – HERE, Ms. Rahat Bekboeva – HERE and Aisulu Imashova – NEO assistant at the event.
