On June 10-11, 2019 the seminar on “Recognition: Implications for cross-border access to higher education and mobility” took place in Chisinau, Moldova.
The seminar focused on the recognition of qualifications.
In recent years, the number of student mobility has increased, and recognition of qualifications has become one of the pressing issues in higher education, because without an understanding of the mechanisms of recognition, no international mobility strategies can be considered viable, either at system level or at institutional level.
During the workshop, participants were familiarized with international recognition conventions, with key components of recognition of academic qualifications, and learnt the current recognition practice and the shift from ‘equivalence’ to ‘comparability’ as well as current priorities in the field of recognition of qualifications.
The event was attended by representatives of ministries, experts in the field of recognition of qualifications, experts on higher education reform.
Dr. Ermek Baibagyshov, a national expert on higher education reform took part in this seminar.
