Following the dynamic two-day conference “Strengthening University Collaboration Between Europe and Central Asia” (April 23–24, 2025), representatives from 20 higher education institutions (HEIs) across Kyrgyzstan gathered for a follow-up session to reflect on outcomes and chart implementation steps.
This follow-up meeting focused on the practical next steps for putting into action the draft resolution developed jointly by participants during the conference.
A key outcome of the follow-up meeting was the development of a concrete implementation plan adapted to the Kyrgyz context. This plan sets out the first practical steps to mainstream the principles of the resolution into institutional strategies and national priorities.
Specific actions include:
Establishing institutional working groups focused on internationalization;
Identifying opportunities for joint degree programmes and micro-credits;
Building capacity for quality assurance and digital learning tools;
Participating in pilot initiatives and expanding participation in Erasmus+;
Strengthening coordination with national education authorities and regional partners.
Participants outlined the importance of aligning these actions with both national higher education strategies and international standards, including the Bologna Process and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This national dialogue served as both a reflection and a launching pad – translating the conference vision into tangible goals.
