From April 5 to 13, 2024, the Alliance Française in Bishkek, in partnership with the Embassies of France, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, and Morocco, as well as the Delegation of the European Union, hosted Francophonie Week — a celebration of the French language and Francophone cultures.
This year’s theme, “Tales of the Francophonie,” inspired a rich programme of over 20 educational, cultural, and entertainment events, not only in Bishkek, but also in the cities of Karakol and Osh.
As part of the festival, on April 8, 2024, the National Erasmus+ Office in Kyrgyzstan presented the Erasmus+ Programme to participants, highlighting opportunities for academic mobility, joint master’s degrees, and capacity-building projects in Europe. The session provided students and educators with practical information about studying abroad and building international partnerships.
Other festival highlights included:
A theatrical performance “The Adventure of the Platypus” on April 5 at the Seytek National Center for Children and Youth in Bishkek
A screening of the Swiss film “The Last Dance” on April 12 in Bishkek, Karakol, and Osh
A French animated film screening on April 7 at the Alliance Française in Bishkek and in Osh
Francophonie Week continues to grow each year, offering inclusive and creative programming that brings together communities through language, culture, and shared values of diversity and dialogue. Erasmus+ is proud to support and participate in such initiatives that promote international cooperation and multilingual education.
