From March 11 to 14, 2025, Bishkek is hosting the conference “Experience in Implementing the Model of Financial Autonomy in Universities of Kyrgyzstan: Challenges and Prospects,” organized within the framework of the DEFA project (Development of the Financial Autonomy of Universities in Kyrgyzstan).
The DEFA project, launched in 2022, aims to develop a flexible and efficient model of financial autonomy for universities, enabling higher education institutions to mobilize and manage resources effectively in response to evolving needs.
The project consortium includes nine universities in Kyrgyzstan, including the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov (KSTU), which serves as the project coordinator.
The National Erasmus+ Office in Kyrgyzstan participated in the event, which focused on developing sustainable financial management mechanisms in the country’s higher education institutions. During the conference, participants discussed key aspects of implementing financial autonomy, successful university case studies, as well as international experience and best practices in this field.
Funded by the Erasmus+ programme, the DEFA project represents an important step toward strengthening the managerial and financial independence of universities in Kyrgyzstan. We are proud to be part of this process and to contribute to the implementation of innovative solutions in the field of higher education.
