As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Erasmus Mundus program, we are excited to share inspiring stories from our alumni. Meet our second graduate:
Baktybek Kainazarov
Head of UNFPA in Kyrgyzstan // EU Erasmus Alumni Member
“Baktybek pursued the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in European Studies, a program that immersed him in intellectually enriching experiences at the Jagiellonian University in Poland and Palacky University in the Czech Republic, where he acquired a profound understanding of European studies, spanning diplomacy, international business, cultural management, and European administration.
Building upon this academic foundation, Baktybek transitioned into the dynamic world of United Nations agencies, where he gained a nuanced understanding of the intricate issues surrounding global development. A defining chapter in Baktybek’s career unfolded when he assumed the role of Head of Office at the United Nations Population Fund in Kyrgyzstan, where his work encompasses advocacy for the reproductive rights of women and young people and promoting evidence-based data to achieve UNFPA’s three transformative results, which include (a) ending preventable maternal deaths, (b) ending the unmet need for family planning, and (c) ending gender-based violence and all harmful practices, including female genital mutilation and child, early, and forced marriage.”
