The final meeting within the Erasmus+ project “Advancing University Education in Biomedical Engineering and Health Management in Kyrgyzstan (KyrMEDU)” has been held at the Talas State University on March 11-12, 2019. The project is coordinated by the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau. 7 universities of Kyrgyzstan are involving to the project implementation.

The goal of the project is to improve the quality and enhance the role of higher education institutions in Kyrgyzstan in society as a whole by developing new and innovative health research (health informatics / economics and biomedical engineering) to meet the needs of the labor market and public services, as well as physicians and technical staff to effectively use existing medical equipment, as well as stimulate national and international collaboration by sharing new curricula, teaching methods and materials.

Welcomed speeches were made by Mr. K.Kozhobekov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic and Mr. A.Upenov, Rector of the Talas State University.

During the first working day, the achieved results of the project and progress report were presented. Results achieved during the project implementation period the following:

– Analysis of the status quo of the health sector of the Kyrgyz Republic
– Conducting trainings for teaching staff with the involvement of professors from European partner universities

Sectoral qualification frameworks in the following areas: “Health informatics and biomedical engineering” were developped within the framework of the project and approved by the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the implementation of the project, an Individual working curriculum in the field of “Health informatics and biomedical engineering” was developed by project team and approved by the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.

License on the preparation of bachelors in the field of “Informatics in Healthcare” were obtained.

Created center for distance learning in computer science.

Three National Higher Education Experts: Mr. M.Chynybaev, Mr. E.Baybagyshev and Mrs. A.Nuralieva took part on the meeting as a members of the project working group.

Representatives of working groups from the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy, Issyk-Kul State University, Kyrgyz State Technical University, Kyrgyz State University of Construction, Transport and Architecture, Naryn State University, Osh State University and Talas State University took part on the event.
